For youth currently in 6th - 9th grades. This is a two year program to explore the Christian faith and to decide if you wish to affirm your baptisms in a special worship service at the end of the program, called Affirmation of Baptism (aka "Confirmation"). This is a time to learn more about the faith and Jesus and ask questions. It is a time to grow in faith. The program involves more than classes. We also engage in activities to live out our faith and discover what it means to volunteer at church and serve others. At the Affirmation of Baptism worship service, the youth affirm their faith and take responsibility for your ongoing faith formation.
For the 2024-2025 program year, we will have weekly classes (Sept. 15 - Oct. 27) to study the book of Genesis and broader exploration of the Bible. We will join the Adult Sunday school class for a short video on part of the book of Genesis (in the Family room) and then go to the Youth room to discuss the video and learn more about the bible. Parents of the students will be joining us for these Fall classes. We will take a break from classes in November and December to focus more on volunteering at church and for the community. Oportunities include: decorating the Rotary trees, volunteering for the Thanksgiving dinner, greening the church, volunteering at Rotary Lights, participating in the choir for the Christmas Cantata, caroling at local nursing homes. This is all in addition to weekly activities for which to volunteer at church: alcolyting, reading the bible lessons, communion assistant, helping at coffee hour, helping to count the offering. In January, we will resume classes and continue to look deeper into what the bible teaches us.
Currently, we are also exploring going on a mission trip in mid to late July. This will be open for youth currently in 6th - 12th grades and adult chaperones.
