Planning for this year's Thanksgiving dinner is underway. This year we are planning to serve 450 meals with carry outs and delivery (there will continue to be a 6 meal/delivery limit).
We have decided to not have in house dining this year. With the continued increase of our delivery orders over the years, having the dining hall available to do production lines helps make the process of putting together meals so much easier and more efficient.
We are also changing the process of receiving donations for the meal. With the supply chain issues we continue to see, we have decided to order as much as possible through Sysco and to not gather food donations for the meal. The turkey roasts we can purchase are already de-boned and can be cooked from frozen , which is a big advantage for the cooking and carving process.
Those who would like to help donate towards the cost of the meals, we would ask for monetary donations this year to help purchase the supplies. The estimated cost per meal is $10. In making donations, please make payments out to St. John's and note the donation is for the Thanksgiving dinner. An average family meal would be $60.
The Thanksgiving dinner requires a large number of volunteers to ensure its success. This year we have the following volunteer opportunities for those who are available to volunteer the week leading up to Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving Day:
During the week (days/times will be sent out closer to the week)
Turkey carvers: 4
Turkey cookers: 4
Food Prep Thursday morning 6-9:30 am: 6
10:00-11:30 am
Line servers: 6
Meal packers: 14
Delivery drivers: 10
Carry outs 11:30 am -1:00 pm
Line servers: 6

THANK YOU!! We appreciate all your help in making the Thanksgiving dinner a success year after year, donating, cooking, serving, packing, and delivering the meals. Without all of you we would not be able to do all we do.
