The Story

Dream and imagine with us.  What might happen if the whole congregation of St. John’s read through the Bible – Genesis through Revelation in 9 months?  How would such a goal bring us together as a congregation? Imagine the possibility of inviting family and friends to learn about the Bible for the first time.  How might your understanding and love of the Bible change if you were able to read through the Bible as you would a novel?

Beginning in September we will explore these possibilities together.   The Story (by Zondervan) helps readers understand God’s story from Genesis to Revelation and how their own stories intersect with God’s story.  Consisting of 31 chapters of carefully-selected scriptures sequenced in chronological order, The Story presents the word of God in an engaging format, reading like a novel. The Story provides 31 weeks of curriculum for children, teen and adult Sunday school plus 31 weeks of corresponding sermons. 

There is an edition of The Story available for five different age levels: adults, a teen edition, The Story for Kids, The Story for Children, and The Story for Little Ones.  The entire church can be literally on the same page for 31 weeks. We plan to begin the experience on Sunday, September 13, 2020.
